Review of expectations: No AI Presentations!

Objective:

Students will understand why AI-generated presentations are not allowed for their term project and why original work is essential.

1. What is AI-Generated Content? 

  • AI tools like ChatGPT, Canva AI, and Google Slides AI can create presentations, essays, and summaries.
  • While these tools are useful, they generate content automatically without deep understanding.

2. Why AI Presentations Are Not Allowed 

A) Learning Requires Thinking

  • Your project is about researching, analyzing, and explaining ideas in your own words.
  • If AI does all the work, you are not learning the skills needed for critical thinking and research.

B) AI Can Be Wrong

  • AI-generated content often contains mistakes, outdated information, or lacks proper sources.
  • You are responsible for ensuring accuracy, which means doing the research yourself.

C) Original Work Matters

  • Using AI to generate a project is not your work—it’s like copying from another student.
  • Teachers value your ideas, writing, and creativity, not just polished slides.

3. What You CAN Use AI For 

  • Idea generation: Use AI to brainstorm topics but write the content yourself.
  • Editing & organizing: AI can help you check grammar, reword sentences, or structure points.
  • Fact-checking support: AI can suggest topics, but always verify facts with reliable sources.
  • Bibliography Creation

4. Final Reminder 

  • AI should help you, not replace your effort.
  • Your project should showcase your research, ideas, and creativity—not an AI's. YOUR POWERPOINT ONLY - if you are choosing that medium.
  • If you’re unsure, ask your teacher before using AI!

Final Exam Prep Kahoot & Study Time!!!!  Before we jump into today’s Kahoot, I want to take a quick minute to go over a few important reminders. Kahoot is something we use to review and have fun while learning—but that only works if everyone uses it respectfully. So here’s how we’ll be handling it today and for ALL future kahoots (E.g. next year Socials 9 as well).  We’re using [nickname generator / player identifiers / real names] today to keep things appropriate and respectful.
