📜 Primary Source
A primary source is a piece of information that comes directly from the time or person involved in the event.
It’s like getting the story straight from the source.
Examples:
-
A diary entry from someone who lived through the event
-
A photograph taken during that time
-
A speech, letter, or official document from the past
-
Artifacts like tools, clothing, or buildings
🧠 Think: “Was this created by someone who was there?”
📚 Secondary Source
A secondary source is created after the event by someone who wasn’t there, using primary sources and other information to explain or analyze what happened.
Examples:
-
Textbooks
-
Biographies
-
Documentaries
-
History websites or essays
🧠 Think: “Is this person talking about what happened, not actually part of it?”
